Draft for review by AFPI counsel. Effective date to be set at launch.
Patriot Pipeline is an invitation-only professional referral network operated by the America First Policy Institute (“AFPI”). This notice describes how Patriot Pipeline handles the information of the people who participate in it. It supplements AFPI's general privacy policy, which applies to everything this notice does not address. Patriot Pipeline is intended for working professionals; AFPI does not knowingly enroll anyone under 18.
Information we collect
- Information you provide: your name and contact details; your professional background, current role, areas of policy interest and seniority; and the documents you upload, such as a résumé, a cover letter and a writing sample. Please do not include Social Security, passport or financial account numbers in your documents.
- Information from others: a Patriot Pipeline participant may recommend you to AFPI by name and email address, and AFPI staff may record who referred you. AFPI staff may also file a document you have sent them by other means.
- Information we generate: AFPI staff may keep internal notes on your record (who referred you, when you were last in touch). Technical records of sign-ins and of access to your information are kept for security and accountability. Network addresses are not stored.
How we use it
To keep your résumé on file, to consider you for referral to organizations seeking qualified professionals, to communicate with you about Patriot Pipeline, and to maintain the security and integrity of the service. We do not sell your information and do not use it for advertising.
Patriot Pipeline uses software, which may include third-party artificial-intelligence services, to help organize information, such as identifying areas of policy experience from a résumé. These tools assist AFPI staff; decisions about referrals are made by people. Where a third-party service is used, AFPI's agreement with it prohibits the use of your information to train the service's models.
Background reports
Before putting your name forward for a particular position, AFPI may ask your permission for a background report from a consumer reporting agency, and a review of your public social media activity limited to defined categories of conduct, from a screening company. If so, you will receive a separate disclosure and will be asked for your written authorization before any report is ordered, and you will have the rights provided by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, including a copy of the report and notice before any adverse decision based on it.
How we share it
- Within AFPI: staff responsible for operating Patriot Pipeline.
- With outside organizations: Patriot Pipeline itself sends nothing outside AFPI. If AFPI staff want to put your name forward to an organization, they do so themselves, outside Patriot Pipeline; you may tell AFPI at any time that you do not wish to be put forward.
- With service providers: companies that host, deliver email for, or otherwise support Patriot Pipeline, under contracts that restrict their use of your information to providing those services.
- As required by law: to comply with legal process or protect the rights, safety and property of AFPI, participants, or others.
How long we keep it
While you participate in Patriot Pipeline. You may withdraw at any time from your profile page; withdrawal stops any further referral activity immediately. 90 days after withdrawal, your profile, documents and related records are deleted and your sign-in is deactivated. You may ask for deletion sooner. Security and accountability records are retained for three years, with your identifying details replaced by a code once your profile is deleted.
Security
Access to your information is limited to authorized people and recorded. Information is protected in transit and at rest, and documents are never published at a public address. No system is perfectly secure; if a security incident affects your information, AFPI will notify you as required by law.
Cookies
Patriot Pipeline uses one cookie, which keeps you signed in and expires when you sign out or after twelve hours. It uses no advertising or analytics cookies and loads no content from third parties.
Your choices
You may review and update your information on your profile page at any time; ask AFPI not to put your name forward; withdraw from Patriot Pipeline; and ask AFPI what information it holds about you or to delete it. Requests should come from the email address on your account so that we can confirm it is you.
Changes to this notice
If this notice changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date, and participants will be told by email. If a change would materially alter how information already collected is used, AFPI will seek your agreement first.
